Paul “Woody” Garavente is a graduate of Harvard University and began his career on Wall Street. In 2015, he transitioned to the education field, starting with full-time teaching and then tutoring students for standardized testing. In 2020, Woody realized that his dream of starting his own business to assist students to achieve their potential could become a reality. He looks forward to this next chapter in his career and helping students gain admission to the college of their choice and becoming their best self.

Woody is one of seven children born to two career educators.  He attended public school in Long Island and went on to graduate from Harvard with a degree in engineering sciences. He played lacrosse all four years for the Crimson and was a senior captain.

Woody had a 29 year career on Wall Street in the fixed income arena, trading rates products for the first 17 years and then transitioning to the electronic trading world in 2004. He was the product manager for interest rate swaps for Tradeweb until 2014.

He “re-wired’ in 2015 into the teaching and tutoring world because he enjoys helping students get on the path to success and achieve their full potential.  Woody spent three years at Pingry teaching financial literacy and math to both middle school and high school students.  He left Pingry in 2018 and has worked at two test prep companies since then.

Besides his career, Woody has three adult daughters, has coached lacrosse in Chatham since 1995, loves to play golf at Canoe Brook, and has been the president of the board of trustees at St. John’s Home for Boys in Rockaway, Queens, since 2003.
